PROCESS
Visual Reference & Story Idea
Early Character Design
We decided the girl to be in 2D and based of a regular Chinese middle school students in their uniform to refer to our heritage The plant is designed in 3D but used a 2D toon shader in redshift to keep consistent with the girl. We ran a few iterations in the colors and shader tests (and we changed it again during the final production :))
