On the Grass

This project is a commisioned project by musician Jin Huang to make an loop animation for their newly released EP, On The Grass.

Tool: After Effects, Illustrator

Role: Art Direction, Illustration, Animation

PROCESS

After listening to the demo track, I started off creating a few concept arts for Jin
for them to pick. I emphasize on the emotion and the contrast between the city jazz
and the nature depicted in the music.

We end up with second direction. Then, based on the vector style they wanted,
I started to make illustration in Illustrator, and I tested out different color combo.

I ended up with the contrast between the warmer color on the floor and darker color on the character to reclect on the chill vibe of the music.
